What is Neuro Linguistic Programming?
The cumbersome phrase Neuro Linguistic Programming is used to describe an approach which has been described as "the study of subjective experience."
It is based on the study of excellence - on what naturally gifted people are already doing anyway. NLP can be used to transfer the skills of 'excellence' to other people and other contexts.
At its heart is the study of how we think and communicate, with ourselves and others, and of how we can use this to get the results we want.
It consists of a wide range of practical models, processes and techniques that can be taught to just about anyone.
I know from personal experience that NLP provides me with effective tools in gaining greater self - mastery and helping others change.
Neuro - the unique way in which we organise information via our neurology about our experience of the world, and how this influences our physiology and behaviour.
Linguistic - how we express our experiences to ourselves and others via the language we use, and how the language we use affects our behaviour and feelings.
Programming - how habitual, often unconcious, patterns of thoughts and feelings developed through the course of our life affect our behaviour in the present, and how these patterns can be changed.
"NLP is the ability to master your own states by running your own brain" Richard Bandler
"NLP is the art and science of personal excellence." Seymour and O'Conner
